I Am Your Amorata
By Fiza Pathan
Seeing you is more than enough
For me to grow a tender fondness.
I can nourish my life on every gaze.
But you don’t know me.
I am your secret admirer.
Dear light grey eyed one with ebony black hair.
You are my secret vice, which inebriates my eyes.
I follow you to your mansion near the Jewish cemetery.
You never look and you will never ever know
That I am your devotee, your amorata.
Ludicrous and ridiculous are my doings all day.
Staring like a stone at you is my salvation.
Garlands of white roses I bring to adore those abysses
Of your painted eyes and your simple smile.
Heavenly fragrance will I pour out
From the nectar of white floral
Tribute to your penetrating glance
You will still only pass me by.
You never look and you will never ever know
That I am your devotee, your amorata.
There are many women of beauty
But of my kind you will find
But only solitary me.
Come over to my lonely abode
Rest your resplendent eyes upon my brow.
There you will see clearly, wrinkles cut deep
Scratched with sharp thorns that pierce my feet
Your name is scratched upon my wounds.
I am your lover, your amorata.
You don’t sigh at my gushings of red wines sourness
Pungent are my lips after uttering your syllables
Can imagine, how I chant your name all day.
I’m your mistress, I am deluded by your handsomeness
You will cease to realise that I exist.
Your window below I stand
And call out for a boon.
I am your lover, your devotee, your amorata.
I am your vassal and your bonded servant
No one will realize what my eyes say to you.
No one, even you can’t see,
How much I pine for the sight of you.
I will leave and go, just one more glance.
Taste the veins I leave behind.
Come then to my land, I live in the land of hermits
And in my muddy hut I can sigh a plenty.
Follow the tide
Follow the sky with no moon
Move to your right
Move in the twilight.
Then as the stars fade away forever,
Then you will realise
That I am your devotee, your amorata.
