The Shy Moon
by Fiza Pathan
The shy moon hides behind the dark clouds of the monsoon,
As I part the curtains of the raindrops I see the blemish tainted white crescent.
The moon hides her eyes from me because she loves another,
The wooer of the spheres which is the solar beam has enchanted my moon beam.
I love the songs that the shy moon sings in the wind of this high tide crescendo,
I want to serenade the pale moon with the love of my beating & burning lyre.
Upon the sky so dark & cold she sees me & the thunder sings,
So I press my lips to her lightening with a clash of the deadly & the intensity of a lover.
My shy moon covers her eyelashes with the shadow of the Earth,
The reflected light of the snow white caress endangers my being to be conquered by the false light of love so blind.
Rest dear shy moon upon the storm of constellations & comets,
You are seducing the poet in me to dance with your faint fire so yellow to the bright light of the crimson dawn.
Don’t shy away from your lover O queen of satellites,
Dance with the stars in my arms running wild upon the orbit of the terrestrial.
You will sing your tune to the Milky Way while I gather your dreams of night sleep in my hands,
Hide not your face from me but confide your sentiments strongly to our embrace in the cloud of fire.
Gently stroke my senses with your sleepy gaze which darts away along the night sky,
Moan with the wind that blows again in this rainy hour in the darkness of the fog.
