The Vicious One
By Fiza Pathan
Forever after and ever after you will remain with me.
I’m a jealous lover and this heart of mine scorns at your latest delight.
What is she, but an old hag trapped in a garb of a princess.
I am hideous to your eye but a pearl hidden in the mud.
I will devote my whole life to your service
I shall drape my hair over your eyes and bow my head at your feet.
The poet knows no shame where love is concerned.
Turn away the one you cling to now
And drink from my broken heart the red blood of my veins,
Which like ivy vines covers my soul.
In my heart there lies only you dear lover.
Leave the witch who has poisoned my days and return to the lover,
Who has cut her flesh to erase her memories of you-but has failed miserably.
I will sell my soul to the Golem of the Kabbalah to get you back in my arms again.
I’m a philosopher of ancient sorcery and can spin the yarn to catch you dearest.
Look away from the fiend who stabbed my back so mercilessly.
Look at me your dearest lover of old whose bare dry bones,
Break out in nerves to cry out to you to come.
Come forward dear one and eat of my flesh like a cannibal.
For being a vampire I now walk upon the earth
To avenge my loss and to kiss your cold lips, my sweet.

Fiza, I definitely think the shorter line suits you. I think it lends you more control over your writing.>KN
